Who We Are
Mark Sullivan advises business owners through the legal decisions that shape the future of their companies from growth and governance to succession, sales, and ownership transitions.
Mark earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he developed a strong foundation in business and transactional law. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and has spent most of his career working closely with small and mid-sized businesses, particularly closely held and family-owned companies.
His practice focuses on business purchases and sales, partnership and buy-sell agreements, contract drafting and review, employment agreements, financing transactions, and real estate matters tied to business operations. Mark is frequently engaged by founders and second-generation owners who need thoughtful guidance as they prepare for ownership changes, succession planning, or outside interest from buyers or investors.
Clients value Mark’s ability to see beyond a single transaction. He is known for asking the questions that help business owners think ahead about things like risk, timing, relationships, and long-term outcomes. His work is often preventative by design, helping clients structure agreements and decisions in ways that avoid conflict later.
Before forming Liberty Mark Law, Mark built his practice as a trusted advisor to business owners across industries, often serving as ongoing counsel rather than one-time transactional support. His approach reflects a belief that legal work is most effective when it is steady, discreet, and grounded in a full understanding of the business and the people behind it.
At Liberty Mark Law, Mark leads the firm’s business law practice and collaborates closely with Liberty when business matters intersect with family transitions, offering clients coordinated legal guidance when personal and professional interests overlap.
Mark resides in the Pittsburgh area and remains actively engaged in the local business community. He enjoys reading, golf, tennis, sports (all of Pittsburgh’s pro sports teams and Pitt athletics) and the occasional cigar.
